Getting Started
Virtual Meetings:
On-line Conferencing for Intranets and the Internet
VoiceText users communicate in
virtual meetings, which they access from the Meeting Center.
Each user in a meeting runs a copy of VoiceText Communicator,
VoiceText's free client application for PCs or Macs or UNIX
workstations or Java devices . VoiceText Communicator is
launched by the user's web browser when the user clicks
on the meeting's name.
In a virtual meeting, one user,
the presenter, uses the VoiceText Communicator's Capture
Frame® to select imagery for transmission to other users,
who view the imagery through the VoiceText Communicator's
display frame. Users in a meeting can take turns presenting.
Users can also communicate through a chat window.
To create a virtual meeting, a
user clicks on the "New Meeting" button at the VoiceText
Conference Server's Meeting
Center, and fills out a simple form. To join a meeting,
a user clicks on the meeting's name. Meeting creators can
assign passwords to meetings, restricting access to those
users who enter the password in a dialog box.
